| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Monoclonal Anti-Caldesmon (Smooth) (mouse IgG1 isotype) reacts in immunoblotting assays with caldesmon polypeptide of 150 kDa (h-Caldesmon). |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | The antibody (also cited as h-CD) reacts in immunoblotting assays with caldesmon polypeptide of 150 kDa (h-caldesmon). It does not cross-react with skeletal or cardiac muscle or with the 70 kDa non-muscle caldesmon. In immunohistochemical staining, the antibody exhibits smooth muscle specificity. It stains vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells but not epithelial, endothelial or connective tissue fibroblast cells. In normal and malignant breast tissue, the myoepithelial component of galactophorous sinuses (but not in ducts of lobules) is stained; however, the antibody may be non-reactive by immunocytochemical methods with cultured smooth muscle cells. This probably reflects the down regulation of caldesmon commonly observed in tissue culture. |
