| General description: | Croton oil is a toxic viscous liquid extracted from seeds of Croton tiglium. It is pale yellow to brown in color and is transparent in nature. Croton oil has a strong irritant property and is used along with phenol in some chemical peels. It also has a tumor promoting ability. |
| General description: | Croton oil is extracted from Croton tiglium L. It consists of crotonoleic acid, crotonic acid, crotonyl alcohol, crotonyl alcohol bisester and crotonyl alcohol trisester. Croton oil acts as a stimulant in the skin and mucosal inflammation. It is associated with allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and skin carcinoma. Croton oil functions as a skin peeling agent. |
