Immunofluorescence
Cardiomyocyte isolated from rat heart stained using Monoclonal Anti-Desmin, clone DE-U-10 (Cat. No. D1033). The cross-striation corresponding to the Z bands is evident. Some striations are continuously crossing the cell, others show branching that is equivalent to the course of the sarcomeres. Due to the isolation procedure, the cell contains only one membrane of the intercalated disc at both ends that labels for desmin. Nuclei are stained with propidium iodide.

| Application: | Monoclonal Anti-Desmin antibody produced in mouse is suitable for indirect immunofluorescence at a working dilution of 1:20 using formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human tissue, microarray and western blotting. It may be used for immunocytochemical localization of intermediate filaments of the desmin group in all types of muscle cells and to localize desmin at the periphery of z-discs. It specifically stains desmin when used in immunoblotting assays. It may be used for labelling desmin in tumors derived from muscle tissue (leiomyomas and rhabdomyosarcomas). It was used for immunohistochemical staining of cardiac cells in a study to understand cardiac conduction through engineered tissue. It was used as a primary antibody for the detection of expression of desmin in cultured cells to study the effect of mutation in desmin gene. |
