Biochem/physiol Actions:	2′-Deoxycytidine 5′-triphosphate (dCTP) is used to synthesize DNA by DNA polymerases or reverse transcriptases. dCTP is an allosteric regulator of deoxycytidylate (dCMP) deaminase. It is used in studies of nucleotide pools, nucleotide selectivity and enzyme specificity studies, such as the preferred incorporation of dCTP by Rev1, a γ-family DNA polymerase.
General description:	2′-Deoxycytidine 5′-triphosphate (dCTP) is synthesized either by de novo pathway or from the multiple phosphorylation steps of cytidine. It is deaminated to deoxyuridine monophosphate (dUMP) which is convertible to deoxythymidine triphosphate (dTTP).
