Biochem/physiol Actions: The benzyl ester group of the amino acid monomers promote kinetically controlled synthesis (KCS) of polypeptides by increasing the substrate affinity and specificity of the enzyme. It is useful in the chemoenzymatic polymerization of glycine monomers.
