• Can be analyzed using various laser scanners or colorimetric or fluorescence detectors (CCD) imaging systems
General description: Fluorescence detection is a preferred method for many quantitative protein microarray assays in research and diagnostic applications due to its excellent sensitivity and potential for multiplexing. Use of multiplexed fluorescence-based assays on porous nitrocellulose though has been hampered by high backgrounds at shorter excitation wave lengths (such as the 532nm fluorescence channel). These ONCYTE™ SuperNOVA™ microporous nitrocellulose film slides increase protein microarray assay sensitivity and dynamic range using fluorescent end points at multiple wave lengths. Use of SuperNOVA™ slides can lower the limit of detection with fluorescent end points by 3 – 4 orders of magnitude over competing nitrocellulose film slides.
General description: Porous nitrocellulose (PNC) film slides are the major high binding protein microarray substrate technology. Grace Bio-Labs ONCYTE® nitrocellulose film slides offer a significantly higher surface area for protein binding. These slides are compatible with many detection methods. Fluorescent, chemiluminescent, isotopic, and chromogenic detection methods that are commonly employed for Western and Northern blots are compatible with porous nitrocellulose films. ONCYTE® film slides need not require any activation step to immobilize proteins and are printable straight from the box. Pre-wetting ONCYTE® film slides should be avoided as printing onto a wet slide will result in the sample spreading, resulting in larger, more diffuse spots.
