| Biochem/physiol Actions: | ZCCHC16 (zinc finger, CCHC domain containing 16) gene is a gag-derived gene with the longest introns that belongs to the Mart gene family of proteins. It is commonly refered to as Mart4. The human gene contains 2 introns in the 5′ UTR region. One intron is 47.8kb long and the other is 323.3kb long. This gene is similar to the mammalian retrogenes that contain long introns at 5′ UTRs. In mouse, this gene contains six introns. The gene may be involved in embryogenesis but does not play any role during placentogenesis. |
