| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Junctional adhesion molecule C plays a role in tight junction formation, leukocyte adhesion and transendothelial migration. It plays an important role in different metastasis capacity of lymph node. It affects β1and ERK activation in human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells (HDLEC) and promotes lymphangiogenesis and nodal metastasis. It may act as a therapeutic target for preventing and treating lymphatic metastases. It has some role in the development and function of the vascular system and the brain. The gene is essential for maintaining the integrity of the cerebrovascular endothelium as well as for normal lens development in humans. |
