| Biochem/physiol Actions: | ZIC1 is a member of the Zinc finger of the cerebellum (ZIC) protein family and is referred as ZIC and ZNF201. The gene encodes zinc finger containing proteins that can bind proteins and DNA. It is a vital transcription factor with zinc finger domains implicated in the process of neural development. It is a novel tumor suppressor gene that plays a crucial role in vertebrate development. Methylation of this gene may be a promising biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC and ovarian cancer (OC). It serves as a potential therapeutic target for gastric cancer. It is also involved in progression of human cancers, including medulloblastomas, endometrial cancers and mesenchymal neoplasms. It acts as a novel candidate tumor suppressor gene down-regulated through promoter hypermethylation in gastric cancer. |

| Features and Benefits: | Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section. Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways: • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues. • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments. |
