| Biochem/physiol Actions: | TRIM33 (Tripartite motif containing 33) is directly involved in the regulation of tumor cell growth through TGF-β/Smad signaling cascade. In TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway, it binds to the receptor phosphorylated Smad2/3 to reflect differentiation response. It exhibits a strong silencing activity of gene expression in promoter attached condition. It functions as a biomarker in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In HCC, TRIM33 plays an important role in the tumor growth at the early stage of HCC, but not in advanced form. On the other hand, it inhibits invasion and metastasis in both early and advanced-stage of HCC. |
