| Biochem/physiol Actions: | TSC22D4 (TSC22 domain family, member 4) is a heterodimeric leucine zipper-containing protein belonging to the TSC22 domain family. It contains a C-terminal TSC box region adjacent to the highly conserved leucine zipper domain. It has a unique quality of forming homodimer and heterodimer by binding to other leucine zipper-containing transcription factors. The tumor suppressor TSC22D4 binds to the heterologous DNA-binding domain to exert the transcriptional repressor activity. It catalyzes the 3′-5′ single guanine nucleotide addition to the 5′-end of nucleic acid substrates. It plays an imporatnt role in protein synthesis. |
