| Biochem/physiol Actions: | COL6A2 (Collagen, type VI, α2) functions as a ligand for membrane-spanning proteoglycan NG2. It directly binds with the central region of NG2 and forms the rod like structure between the N and C-terminal globules. It uses NG2 as a cell surface receptor for maintaining the pericellular matrix structure. It also connects the extracellular matrix with cells. Mutation in COL6A2 causes an autosomal dominant myopathy, Bethlem myopathy. |
