| Biochem/physiol Actions: | NFATC2 (nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic, calcineurin-dependent 2) is dephosphorylated and induced by calcineurin, which is a phosphatase. It is up-regulated in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), where it leads to elevated expression of interleukin-13 receptor α2subunit (IL-13Rα2). In GBM, this protein facilitates the invasiveness of the tumor by activating multiple invasion-promoting genes, such as matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP7), MMP9 and COX2 (cyclooxygenase 2). This protein is constitutively expressed in melanoma, and its expression is suppressed on treatment with cyclosporin A, which results in death of neoplastic cells. Thus, this protein has potential as a therapeutic target in melanoma. |

| Features and Benefits: | Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section. Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways: • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues. • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments. |
| General description: | NFATC2 (nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic, calcineurin-dependent 2) is a member of the nuclear factor family called NFAT. It is expressed in peripheral T-cells, as well as cells not belonging to the immune system. It is a heavily phosphorylated protein. It was first recognized as a regulator of transcription, influencing the proliferation and migration of T-cells. |
