| Biochem/physiol Actions: | SPCS2 (signal peptidase complex subunit 2) gene encodes a subunit of the signal peptidase complex that is involved in the cleavage of signal sequences of secretory and membrane proteins in the lumen of the ER. The encoded subunit is a 25kDa single-spanning membrane protein also called as SPC25. The subunits SPC25 and SPC24 are involved in the maintenance of kinetochore-microtubule attachments and metaphase alignment. They also function in chromosomal movement to the spindle poles in anaphase in vertebrates. |
