| Biochem/physiol Actions: | The protein membrane associated ring-CH-type finger 4 encoded by the gene MARCH4 is a membrane-bound E3 ubiquitin ligase. It directs the internalization of misfolded proteins and free heavy chains upon dissociation of peptide and β2-microglobulin at the the endosomal-lysosomal compartment. |

These proteins contain a RING-CH domain at the N-terminus followed by two transmembrane domains. It is mainly expressed in the brain and placenta and is localized to the Golgi apparatus. |
