| Biochem/physiol Actions: | EIF4G2 (Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4, γ2) is cleaved by caspase during apoptosis, which removes the acidic residues in the AA-box motif. The caspase cleaving facilitates the translation of mRNAs. It acts as a transcriptional repressor in both the cap-dependent and independent translation processes. It inhibits translation by producing translationally inactive complexes such as eIF4A and eIF3. |
