| Biochem/physiol Actions: | The protein encoded by the gene TRIM5 (tripartite motif containing 5) functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase that is involved in retroviral restriction. It prevents infection by HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus type 1) post-invasion of the host cytoplasm. It participates in signal transduction and promotes innate immune signaling. |
