| Biochem/physiol Actions: | NEDD4L (neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally down-regulated 4-like) is an ubiquitin ligase which is responsible for the ubiquitination and degradation of proteins. It causes ubiquitination of the TGF (transforming growth factor)-β membrane receptor, activated Smad (mothers against decapentaplegic homolog)-2/3 and inhibitory Smad7. NEDD4L-mediated ubiquitination of kidney epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) subunits plays an important role in hypertension control. |
