| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Solute-linked carrier family A1 member 5 (SLC1A5) protein plays a role in the uptake of glutamine in proliferating tumor cells. Disrupting the uptake of glutamine by blocking SLC1A5 activity prevents tumor cell proliferation in non-small cell lung cancer, acute myeloid leukemia, and prostate cancer. Overexpression of the SLC1A5 gene is associated with melanoma, colorectal cancer, and lung cancer. |
