| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Myosin VB (MYO5B) acts as a motor for actin dependent organelle trafficking. Mutation or loss of MYO5B gene is associated with the development of an autosomal recessive syndrome, microvillus inclusion disease (MVID). Decreased expression of the protein has been observed in patients of gastric cancer. Therefore, MYO5B might act as a potential biomarker for gastric cancer. MYO5B interacts with Ras-related proteins 8a and 11a (Rab8a–Rab11a) component and stimulates stretch-induced exocytosis in bladder umbrella cells. |
