| Biochem/physiol Actions: | VAT1 (vesicle amine transport 1) is a membrane associated protein which is regulated by calcium. VAT1 is involved in nerve signal transmission and keratinocyte physiology. Due to its proximity with oncogene BRCA1 (breast cancer type 1 susceptibility gene), it might be associated with the susceptibility to breast and ovary cancers. The VAT1 gene is upregulated in glioblastoma, prostate cancer and gastric cancer. It might be associated with cell migration, proliferation and invasion. |
