| Biochem/physiol Actions: | ACOX2 (acyl-CoA oxidase 2) participates in the β-oxidation of branched, long chain fatty acids and in the production of bile-acid precursor molecules. Loss of ACOX2 leads to inborn error of bile acid production with persistent hypertransaminasemia. ACOX2 may participates in the degradation of long branched fatty acids (phytanic and pristanic acids). |
