The immune responses of IL-18 are mediated by its interaction and subsequent signaling by IL-18 receptor complex. The IL-18R complex is made up of α chain that binds to extracellular IL-18 and a β chain that is involved in signal transduction. The IL-18/IL-18R signaling enhances T and NK cell maturation, cytotoxicity and secretion of cytokines. |
