Immunohistochemistry Anti-Kv11.2 (erg2): Cat. No. K0765: Immunohistochemical staining of Kv11.2 in Rat hippocampus using Anti-Kv11.2 (erg2) antibody. A. Kv11.2 appears as diffuse staining (green) that defines the boundary of the reticular nucleus of thalamus (arrow). B. Staining with Mouse Anti-Parvalbumin (PV, red) demonstrates both neuronal and diffuse staining. C. Confocal merge of Kv11.2 and PV demonstrates overlap of the two markers labeling the reticular nucleus of the thalamus (orange).
Immunoblotting Anti-KV11.2 (erg2): Cat. No. K0765: Western blot analysis of Rat brain (lanes 1,3) and Rat cortex (lanes 2,4) lysate. Lanes 1,2. Anti-KV11.2 (erg2) antibody, (1:200). 3,4. Anti-KV11.2 (erg2) antibody, preincubated with the control peptide antigen.

Biochem/physiol Actions: The gene Kcnh6 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 6) encodes a voltage gated K+ channel that modulates the membrane potential in its rested and activated state. It may participate in the tweaking of the presynaptic membrane potential, thereby regulating neurotransmitter release.

General description: Potassium Channel KV11.2 (erg2) encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily H. This member is a pore-forming (alpha) subunit. Kv11.2 produces currents characterized by strong inward rectification with slow activation and very rapid inactivation kinetics, which closely resemble those produced by the much studied channel Kv11.1. The expression of Kv11.2 seems to be limited to the brain and the pituitary gland.
General description: The gene Kcnh6 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 6), also referred to as erg2, encodes a subunit of ether-à-go-go related (erg) K+ channels. The erg K+ channels are part of the EAG (ether-à-go-go) family of voltage-gated K+ channels. The encoded protein is found to be expressed in the rat retina. The three isoforms erg1, erg2, and erg3 are found to be expressed in the brain. They are strongly expressed in the olfactory bulb.
Immunogen: peptide TLNFVEFNLEKHRS(C), corresponding to residues 185- 198 of human Kv11.2 located in N-terminal part of human Kv11.2.
Physical form: Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 0.025% sodium azide.
Preparation Note: Reconstitute with 50 μL or 200 μL deionized water, depending on package size. Further dilutions should be made using a carrier protein such as BSA (1-3%).
