| General description: | MNK1 is a serine-threonine kinase that is activated by ERK or p38 MAPK signaling cascades and modulates translation through eIF4E phosphorylation. Human MNK1 has two C-terminal splice variants, namely, MNK1a and MNK1b. While MNK1a is expressed in the cytoplasm, MNK1b is mainly localized at the nucleus . Anti-MNK1 antibody is specific for human Mnk1 (40 kDa). In immunoblotting, staining of the Mnk1 band is specifically inhibited by the immunizing peptide. |
