Biochem/physiol Actions:	Polyanetholesulfonic acid sodium salt is a polymeric phosphor. It can recognize ferric ion (Fe³⁺) effectively. Sodium polyanethole sulfonate (SPS) is used in commercial blood culture bottles as an anticoagulant. It can prevent the humoral and cellular elements that might interfere with the growth of bacteria. SPS may influence the complement system. It can block phagocytosis and leukocyte functions.
