General description: The (K+) channel family has been sub-grouped in to 2 TM, 4 TM and 6 TM (K+) channels based on the number of transmembrane domains. The voltage-gated Potassium or (Kv) channels belong to the 6 TM (K+) channel family and are expressed mainly in hematopoietic cells such as T and B lymphocytes, macrophages and natural killer cells. (Kv)1.3 facilitates cell proliferation and can also regulate the immune system. Genetic alterations in (Kv) 1.3 lead to epilepsy, episodic ataxia/myokymia, and episodic cardiac arrhythmia (the long QT syndrome). Anti-potassium channel (Kv) 1.3 (extracellular)−FITC antibody can be used for western blotting of rat brain membranes. Rabbit anti- potassium channel (Kv) 1.3 (extracellular) antibodies reacts specifically with rat and human (Kv) 1.3.
Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 211-224 of human KV1.3. Rat and mouse are 12/14 residues identical.
Physical form: Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 1% bovine serum albumin, 0.05% sodium azide.
