Application: • Paromomycin sulfate salt has been used as a:
• reference compound in antileishmanial activity
• RNA-binding ligand and interacts with aptamer. This interaction prevents the binding (and cutting) of dicer to RNA duplex.
Recommended for use in cell culture applications at 100mg/L.
Application: Paromomycin sulfate salt has been used as a positive control to compare the purine analog antiviral 2′,3′-dideoxyinosine (ddI).
Biochem/physiol Actions: Antimicrobial spectrum: Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, some protozoan species, and limited antihelminth.
Mode of Action: Inhibits initiation and elongation during protein synthesis.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Paromomycin inhibits the initiation and elongation steps of protein synthesis by binding to 16S ribosomal RNA. Paramomycin binds to the A site, which causes defective polypeptide chains to be produced and leads to cell death.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Paromomycin possesses antileishmanial and antibacterial activities. It is used to cure visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). This aminocyclitol glycoside is active against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is also active against E. histolytica, D. fragilis and several cestodes, like Taenia saginata, Taenia solium etc.
General description: Chemical structure: aminoglycoside
General description: Paromomycin or aminosidine, an aminoglycoside belongs to the class of aminoglycosides. This nonabsorbable antibiotic is found at high level in the lumen of the colon.
