Biochem/physiol Actions: B cell activating factor (BAFF) participates in B cell and T cell mediated immunity. It plays a key role in the survival and differentiation of B cells. Mutations in BAFF regulates the levels of antibody. BAFF also participates in enhancing the responses of IL-6 (interlukin-6) and TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor alpha), that helps hepatocytes in the production of acute-phase protein.
