| Biochem/physiol Actions: | The Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 2 (STEAP2) being localized in Golgi membrane and cytoplasmic vesicles, may have a critical role in the endocytic pathway. It is highly expressed in prostate carcinomas (PCa) and promotes tumor invasion and migration. Along with STEAP3 and 4, STEAP2 levels are implicated in favoring copper and iron uptake. Studies on targeted STEAP2 knockdown have reported a reduction in PCa progression. |
