| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Ras-related protein Rab-25 (Rab25) acts as an oncogene or a tumor suppressor gene. Overexpression of this gene is seen in several cancers such as ovarian cancer, bladder cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, renal cancer, glioblastoma multiforme and prostate cancer. It helps to control the vesicle trafficking and signaling pathways. Rab25 is associated with the apical recycling system of epithelial cells. Antibodies to Rab proteins may serve as useful tools for studying subcellular localization and membrane organization. |

Rab25 is specifically expressed in epithelial cells and is localized on human chromosome 1q22. It comprises a GTPase tertiary structure with a central barrel with a six-stranded β-sheet surrounded by α-helices. |
