| Application: | Gastrin EIA Kit has been used to estimate the levels of gastrin hormone in plasma or serum sample. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Gastrin is responsible for epithelial cell proliferation and differentiation. Gastrin regulates the action of parietal cells in secretion of gastric acid and growth factors essential for stomach maintenance. Gastrin maintains sodium ion homeostasis and controls body’s blood pressure. Hypoxial conditions in in vitro and in vivo analysis may elevate the expression of gastrin hormone in cancer cells in order to promote angiogenesis. |
| General description: | The Gastrin-I Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kit is an in vitro quantitative assay for detecting Gastrin-I peptide based on the principle of Competitive Enzyme Immunoassay. Gastrin is a peptide hormone released in gastrointestinal region of the body. It is specifically produced by the G-cells in stomach and duodenum. During embryogenesis, gastrin secretion is observed only in the pancreas. Gastrin is also localized to the renal tubules. The GAST gene is mapped to human chromosome 17q21.2. |
