| Application: | Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)Visfatin EIA Kit has been used to measure the concentration of visfatin in blood samples. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Visfatin has a role in mammalian nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) biosynthesis. Studies have shown that mice deficient in visfatin in the forebrain excitatory neurons show hyperactivity, diminished anxiety-like behaviors and impaired learning and memory. It has also been shown that visfatin stimulates glucose uptake and adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation in mouse C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. Visfatin regulates inflammation and insulin sensitivity. |
| General description: | The Visfatin Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kit is an in vitro quantitative assay for detecting Visfatin peptide based on the principle of Competitive Enzyme Immunoassay. Visfatin, also known as nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (Nampt)/ pre-B Cell colony enhancing factor is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 7q22.3. The gene contains 11 exons encompassing 34.7kb. The encoded protein is an adipocytokine secreted by visceral fat. |
