| General description: | Serum amyloid A1 (SAA1) is an acute response protein. It is synthesized by the liver, during infection. SAA1 is expressed in the amnion and chorion of human fetal membranes. It is located on human chromosome chromosome 11. SAA1 encodes for the inducible forms of serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins. |
