This gene is linked to celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), type 1 diabetes mellitus (type 1 DM) and psoriatic arthritis. IL-21 has the ability to promote maturation and increase the cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. |
