| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Sigma′s GenElute 96 Well Total RNA Purification Kit provides a simple and convenient way to isolate total RNA from cells or tissue. The cells or tissue are lysed in a solution containing large amounts of chaotropic salt which immediately inactivates RNases that are present in almost all biological materials. The addition of a Wash Buffer provides the necessary binding conditions for the RNA to be adsorbed to the silica membrane. The contaminating DNA which may be bound to the silica membrane is removed by directly applying RNase-free DNase. The remaining salts, proteins, and other cellular debris are removed by additional washing steps. The final step is to elute the purified RNA in the RNAase-free water that is supplied in the kit. |
