| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Syndecan binding protein (SDCBP) regulates cytoskeletal-membrane organization, cell adhesion, protein trafficking and the activation of transcription factors. SDCBP promotes metastasis in human melanoma cells by activating c-Src. |

| General description: | Syndecan binding protein (SDCBP), also known as syntenin and melanoma differentiation associated gene-9 (mda-9), was initially identified as a molecule linking syndecan-mediated signaling to the cytoskeleton. SDCBP contains tandemly repeated PDZ domains that binds the cytoplasmic, C-terminal domains of a variety of transmembrane proteins. SDCBP is primarily localized to membrane associated adherens junctions and focal adhesions but is also found at the endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus. |
