Application: Scriptaid has been used in post activation of oocytes and embryo culture.
Application: Scriptaid was used to enhance transcriptional activity in cloning procedures by somatic cell nuclear transfer.5,6
Biochem/physiol Actions: Histone deacetylase inhibitor with lower toxicity than trichostatin A.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Histone deacetylase inhibitor with lower toxicity than trichostatin A; used to enhance protein expression.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Scriptaid inhibits the cell cycle progression of ovarian cancer cells by inducing arrest in G0/G1 and/or G2/M phase. Treatment of cells with scriptaid results in loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and increased acetylation of H3 and H4 histone tails.2 Sciptaid induces expression of γ-globin in human erythroid progenitors via p38 signaling and may be a treatment option for sickle cell disease.3 It enhances the transcriptional activity and protein expression in mouse embryos. This is useful in producing cloned, inbred mouse embryos that develop normally into adulthood with regular reproductive ability.4
