| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) is a superantigen that binds to class II MHC molecules on antigen presenting cells. It stimulates large populations of T cells resulting in acute toxic shock syndrome. It is resistant to denaturation and causes outbreaks of food poisoning that includes emetic responses, diarrhea and GI inflammation. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Staphylococcal enterotoxin B compromises the immune system by triggering inflammation and cytokine release. |
