| Biochem/physiol Actions: | DEAD/H-box helicase 11 (DDX11) maintains the cohesion of chromosome arms and centromeres. It plays an important role in genomic stability. Downregulation of DDX11 in melanoma cells causes inhibition of melanoma cell proliferation, defective chromosome segregation and apoptosis. DDX11 is required for the formation of heterochromatin. Mutations in this gene is linked to Warsaw breakage syndrome (WABS). |
