| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) is involved in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. It may have a role in atherosclerosis. The protein stimulates hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) by inhibiting the activity of lipoprotein lipase and interfering with the binding of APOB or APOE to hepatic receptors. It also promotes very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) assembly and secretion in the liver. |
