Muc5ac is a gel-forming mucin of 40MDa, secreted by the goblet cells of the conjunctiva. Muc5ac is localized to the intermediate aqueous layer of tear film and predominant mucin in the respiratory tract. Muc5ac protein consists of cysteine-rich domains that flanks the central glycosylated tandem repeat domain. |
