It exists as a heterodimeric complex with METTL14. An elevated expression of METTL3 is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Mutations in the METTL3 gene are implicated in autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) and neuroblastoma. It may function as a tumor-suppresser in colorectal cancer. |
