| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Pancreatic polypeptide (PPY) or PP has glucoregulatory functions. It modulates biliary secretion and food digestion by preventing gastric emptying. PPY binds to the Y4 receptor and has a role in increasing the number of insulin receptors on hepatocytes. The protein has been associated with chronic pancreatitis and pancreatogenic diabetes. PPY also negatively regulates the expression of resistin hormone. |
