| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 15A (PPP1R15A) recruits and regulates the α-subunit of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1). It functions as a stress marker. When there is depletion in amino acid levels in the cell, PPP1R15A is expressed in high concentrations. It regulates the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and thereby boosts autophagy in macrophages. Studies have shown that PPP1R15A is expressed in the oligodendrocytes of patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. |
