| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Hedgehog interacting protein (HHIP) is highly conserved and interacts with all the three HH family members namely SHH (sonic hh), IHH (indian hh) and DHH (desert hh). It is also a vertebrate-specific inhibitor of HH signaling. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the HHIP gene are associated with increase in the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). |
