| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Ring finger protein 216 (RNF216) associates with toll-like receptors and aids in their degradation. It also aids in the degradation of receptor interacting protein-1 (RIP-1) kinase and negatively modulates tumor necrosis α receptor signaling. The protein acts as an inhibitor of autophagy in macrophages. Mutations in the RNF216 gene have been associated with Gordon Holmes syndrome. |
