| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Anti-Claudin-4 (C-terminal) specifically recognizes human, rat and dog claudin-4. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Claudin-4 is involved in maintaining cellular polarity. It favors sodium chloride absorption and acts as a cation-barrier. Claudin-4 expression has been shown to be deregulated in several cancers, with aberrant expression in ovarian, breast, prostate and pancreatic carcinomas. The gene location of claudin-4 is a Williams-Beuren syndrome critical region. |
| Disclaimer: | Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals. |
| General description: | Claudin-4 is heterogeneously expressed in various tissues. It is enriched in endothelial cells (ECs), including the blood-brain barrier, and is also expressed in gut and kidney. It is mapped to human chromosome 7q11.23. Claudin-4 is associated with the tight junction strands in kidney epithelial cells. |
| Physical form: | Supplied as a solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide. |
| Preparation Note: | For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours. |
