Biochem/physiol Actions: CHGA (chromogranin A) is secreted in abnormal levels by neoplastic neuroendocrine cells, which might be linked with tumor growth and progression, as it might influence the different components of tumor stroma. It is a highly sensitive and specific biomarker for the diagnosis of NETs (neuroendocrine tumors). CHGA is processed to produce catestatin (CST), vasostatin-I, serpinin and pancreastatin (PST), which function as metabolic or cardiovascular-regulatory peptides. As this protein is co-stored and co-released with catecholamines, it plays an essential role in production of catecholamine storage vesicles. It functions as a circulating biomarker for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasm (GEP-NEN) patients.

General description: CHGA (chromogranin A) is a granin family acidic glycoprotein. It resides in endocrine and neuroendocrine cells, where it is localized to secretory dense-core granules which store peptide hormones. It is a predominant protein of the chromaffin cell secretory granules.
Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to the GR-44 peptide in the C-terminal region of human Chromogranin-A , conjugated to KLH.
Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
