| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) catalyzes the first rate limiting step in the biosynthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitter, that is, the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-dopa. Inhibition of TH by L-phenylalanine, might play a crucial role in phenylketonuria and block the synthesis of norepinephrine. Activity of TH can be regulated by phosphorylation. Decreased expression of TH is associated with various neuro-psychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease (PD). |

| General description: | Monoclonal Anti-tyrosine hydroxylase (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma TH-16 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with purified rat tyrosine hydroxylase. This antibody recognizes an epitope located in the N-terminal region of human, monkey, bovine, sheep, rabbit, dog, guinea pig, mouse and rat tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 11p15. TH is a tetramer of four identical subunits, which is characterized with a regulatory, catalytic, and tetramerization domains. The enzyme utilizes tyrosine, BH4 and O2 as co-substrates, and Fe2+ as a cofactor. |

| Other Notes: | In order to obtain best results in different techniques and preparations we recommend determining optimal working concentration by titration test. |
| Physical form: | Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide. |
| Preparation Note: | For continuous use, store at 2–8°C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours. |
